Every year The Shoot Out invites a guest/s to meet a challenge set by directors of The Shoot Out Newcastle. The 2008 challenge will be announced soon.

Pimp My Mighty Boy in just 24 Hours

In 2007 the 24 hour challenge was to Glen Fredricks who we dared to 'Pimp His Mighty Boy' in just 24 Hours.

This challenge could only have occured with the help of some dedicated sponsors including:

Media Mobile Phone Challenge

After the succes of last years challenge we have again asked media workers to rise to the challenge and see just how hard it is to make a film in 24 Hours with no editing.

They were giving 5 items all of which must appear in their film:-

A Mouse, a Mirror, The Shoot Out Dude, Earth and A Big Hand

The challengers are:-

Jane Goldsmith (NBN News)

Jade Lazeravic (The Post)

Chit Chat (The Know – MAX TV)

Previous  Challenges

2006

Several media personalities were challenged to make their own 24hour film using their mobile phones. The winner of the challenge was Michael Gadd (The Newcastle Herald) with his film 'Sauce'. He had some tough competition though with films from Andrew Urban (Urban Cinefile), NXFM and NOVA FM.

 

2005

Two groups of Aerosol Artists were challenged to paint a mural in 24 hours. One mural was behind Panthers

and the other mural was in Mayfield. they worked through rain, hail, darkness (yes, someone forgot the lights)

and lots of beautiful sunshine.  Both murals were fantastic, but Newcastle mural was deemed the best.

2004

In 2004 we had Rupert Reid (actor Matrix, Blue Heelers) will took up the challenge to make a film in 24 hours.

The Shoot Out Newcastle marked Reid's debut as a film director.

"It's like the extreme sport of film making - I like a challenge," Reid said. His film will feature actor Jenni Baird who

swapped her nurse's uniform for a sexy flight attendant's outfit in her first role since leaving All Saints.

2003

In 2003 The Shoot Out challenged Jeremy Kewley (Stingers, Blue Heelers) to make a film starring some on screen cops :

Clayton Watson (Always Greener, Matrix) and Rupert Reed (Matrix Reloaded, Water Rats and Blue Heelers)

and some of Newcastle's finest. The 'boys in blue' featured Snr Constable Tony Tamplin from the Newcastle Police.

2002

The Shoot Out Challenged Ben Steel (Home and Away) to make a film on film in 24 hours; starring:-
Scott Major (Always Greener, Envy, Wild Side, Heartbreak High)
Sal Coco (Walk The Talk, Bootmen, Wildside, Two Hands, South Pacific, Looking For Alibrandi)
Erik Thomson (All Saints, Xena, 13 Gantry Road, Young Hercules, Pacific Drive)
Deni Hines
Lara Cox (Down & Under, Angst, The Lost World, Head Start) and
Jeremy Kewley ( Stingers, Disappearance, Blue Heelers, Neighbours, Janus)
The film industry was pushed to its limits in support of this event.

2001

The Shoot Out Newcastle challenged two big players : BEN STEEL and The Home and Away Team and KYLE from

The Austereo Network to make a film under The Shoot Out conditions.

2000

The Guest Challenges was between 3 teams: BEN GILLIES from Silverchair, MERRICK and ROSSO formally Triple J

now Nova 96.9 and JABBA and the Channel V team

1999

The Shoot Out Newcastle challenged The Newcastle Knights Football Team to make a film for The Shoot Out . And They Did It!

Starring The Johns Brothers, the film told a cheeky story of the search for the football grail.

The Mighty Boy Before work was to commence

The Mighty Boy after the 24 hours!
